Owner: Bob Morton, Kent, WA.
This car has been a race car since 1967 and was driven by Ken Deckman. Bob bought the car in 1987 from the original owner. He still races it today. Bob has restored the car to its original (race) condition. The restoration process was covered in a multi-part article in Super Chevy, starting in the January 1994 issue.
Not exactly your grocery-getter interior. Aside from adding a removable steering wheel, Bob's restored the interior pretty much like it was when the car was raced back in the late 60's and throughout the 70's.
That red box-like protrusion is the 32-gallon fuel tank. Batteries are in the trunk. Note terminals in the rear panel.
Who needs a heater? Certainly not this car. Also, note the covered-up air plenum hole on the firewall. This car sported a variety of different 2x4 setups, several of them "out the back door" from Chevrolet's non-existent racing folks. Wink wink.
Bob says he kind of "slapped together" this engine. The intake setup is from the original 302, but the original block has long since gone to hardware heaven.
