Undercarriage and Suspension
|
This is a 8000 mile L.A. built SS/RS. The car is Ermine white and you can see all the over spray. USCC's opinion is that the floor pan is gray. I am not so sure it isn't black with a nice blanket of white over spray. This car was a good example of how poorly the undercarriage was painted, and how many pieces were natural without paint.
This shot shows the painted rear fuel tank. It clearly shows they made one thick pass after the tank was installed. You can easily see the spray pattern as it passes across the leaf springs. Note: Authors (4A) Z-28 has painted tank also.
Good shot showing over spray on lower A-frame and heavy undercoating in wheel opening area.
Drivers side sub frame in front of tire. Yellow paint was some type of inspection mark. It was done when the frame was upside down. As you can see the drip is going up. It is assumed, that someone inspected the sub frames and marked them.
This is the area in front of the rear wheel. Note the HEAVY undercoating in the fender well and the over spray and undercoat on the uni-frame.
